Former Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne endured a disappointing few years at West London, but he was sold for an impressive transfer fee to Wolfsburg.
Since his return back to the German league, De Bruyne has gone from strength to strength and is regarded as one of the world’s best players now. The 23-year-old managed an astonishing 28 assists in all competitions for the German club, who finished second largely because of his exploits. Aside from those direct involvements in goals, De Bruyne also managed to come up with 15 for his own account.
These good performances have led to a shock link with Chelsea, who are believed to be preparing a € 40 million offer for him in the summer transfer window. However, De Bruyne has ended any speculation about a return to Stamford Bridge for the time being by saying that he will not return as long as Mourinho remains in charge. A number of former players have fallen mode with the Portuguese boss due to his reluctance to explain the reasons for being dropped. In the case of De Bruyne, he rarely featured in the first-team and made only three appearances in the Premier League before being sold to Wolfsburg.
“I think, to be honest, I would not return to Chelsea as long as he is in charge.I know that I like the Bundesliga, and it always did me good. But I don’t fear returning to England, or playing in Spain. I believe I can make it there. You can’t compare my time at Chelsea with what I’m doing now,” said the 23-year-old. Wolfsburg stand to make a huge profit on the player despite having signed for almost £ 27 million. Clubs like Paris St Germain and Manchester City with massive financial resources are interested in signing the Belgian international.
