German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are at the forefront of the race to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson if the Englishman decides to leave Old Trafford this summer. This is according to the report from respected British media outlet Sky Sports which stated that Borussia Dortmund are frontrunners to sign Dean Henderson alongside Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur. Dean Henderson is said to be frustrated with his lack of opportunities at Manchester United this season and he could seek a new challenge at the end of the season. The 23-year-old has played second fiddle to David De Gea in the goalkeeping department at Manchester United this season. Dean Henderson has not been able to force his way to being the first choice goalkeeper at Manchester United despite some shaky moments from David De Gea especially in the Premier League. The Spaniard has been under the spotlight for some shaky goalkeeping in the English top flight this season with some football stakeholders calling for Dean Henderson to replace him in the Premier League team.
Dean Henderson has a long-term contract at Manchester United having signed it last summer upon his return from bottom team Sheffield United. Dean Henderson penned a lucrative deal worth at least £100,000 on a weekly basis after he returned from a hugely successful two-year loan spell. He was a key player for Sheffield United as they gained promotion to the Premier League at the end of the 2018/19 season. The England international was also a key player for the Sheffield United team that ended last season in the top half of the Premier League table. Without him in the Sheffield United squad this season, the Blades are the last team on the Premier League standings and they need a big miracle to escape relegation ahead of the final 14 games of the season. Sheffield United are 14 points adrift of safety as things stand in the Premier League with 14 games to play.
