Serge Gnabry reacts after scoring a quadruple against Tottenham

Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry has expressed his delight after scoring four goals during the 7-2 drubbing of Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League on Tuesday night. The Bavarian giants have remained unbeaten since the German Super Cup defeat to Borussia Dortmund last month and they continued the run with one of their best-ever nights in the Champions League.

Gnabry was the star of the show with four goals in the second half and speaking after the game, he acknowledged that was not in the script, he told: “It’s difficult to put this into words, winning 7-2. None of us would have imagined this. To have scored four goals is also an amazing feeling. Obviously it’s a great result for us and we’re going to enjoy the evening.”

Meanwhile, Gnabry spent time with Arsenal during his time in the Premier League and he surely made his father proud after outsmarting the Gunners’ north London rivals on their own patch, he added: “My dad told me I had to play well tonight and luckily I didn’t let him down. Maybe I was in the Under-8s the last time I scored four in a game.”

With the victory, Bayern remain at top of their Champions League group with a three-point advantage over Red Star Belgrade. Meanwhile, Gnabry has now scored five goals from the last two competitive appearances and he has the opportunity to continue with the good form when Bayern face Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga over the weekend.

Bayern are currently at the top of their league standings with 14 points but they don’t have much of an advantage with the teams from second to sixth with 13 points apiece. As such, they have no room for any complacency and they need to clear up their minds and come afresh for the Hoffenheim clash prior to the international break.
